Book with Island Link instead By Eliza , 27/08/19
My letter to Tofino Bus Company which I received not even a reply
Hello, owners and or managers of Tofino Bus Company and Vancouver Island Connector
I was looking forward to trying out your service for the first time today as my mum lives on the island! I usually use islandlink but today I needed to get dropped in Nanaimo not just at the ferry terminal. My dad drove me down to the Royston pick up spot 10 minutes early and we were clearly there waiting for the bus which should have been expecting me as I had booked prior. Well the bus goes racing past with not even a slow down to see if anyone is there?! I promptly call your phone service and am on hold forever, finally an operator and then on hold longer while she tries to get a hold of the driver to see if we can catch up at Buckley Bay. She couldn’t, so on hold again to see if she can get me on next bus. Then the phone breaks up and cuts out and I get in the cue again FOREVER with no phone call back from the operator?! You have my number on file! Unbelievable! Finally I get through to a different operator to confirm I am expected on the next bus 2 hours later and am again hung up on.This has completely screwed up my day.
So I meet the next bus and ask the driver what he thinks happened to the previous bus not picking me up and he says I wasn’t on the manifest because I must have booked too last minute. I booked on Thursday morning for Sunday travel, certainly that would be enough time. He said ‘oh well it happens sometimes’. Really is this common? This has never happened on the island link and their service is cheaper. Unless I am compensated for today with I hope at least a full ticket refund ( hilarious that I also paid the 3 extra dollars for travel insurance) I won’t be using your service again or recommending it to any of my friends and family.
Your phone operators were very compassionate and apologetic but this mix up on your end has completely screwed up my day.
Top-notch service at an affordable price! By Matthew Dunlop, 07/06/18
This was my first time taking Tofino Bus. The drivers were very friendly, professional, and punctual. The buses are ex-Greyhound coaches, so no outlets, TVs, or Wi-Fi, but they are air conditioned.
I rode on a Tuesday and a Thursday, was not very busy at all, so if you prefer to not be squished beside somebody, travel between Tuesday and Thursday. Both Ted and Rick were great drivers!
Tofino Bus Service By Gwen, 29/07/16
This year I have taken this service from Nanaimo ferry terminal to Tofino in February and April. Both trips we have the large coach which is very comfortable for thatvtrip. Both times i had visitors with me, one local and one international. Both visitors commented on the superb driving of both drivers. Both were very safety conscious, respectful and helpful to all passengers. Schedules were on time as booked and i would travel this rote again with this bus service. Comfort stops were timelt and long enough.
